From Wheels to Wiggles: Lady’s Journey to a Second Chance
When Lady was rescued in January 2023, no one knew if she would ever walk again. She had been left behind with injuries so severe that her future was uncertain. At best, the team thought, maybe she would adapt to life in a wheelchair. But Lady had other plans.
With patience, love, and months of slow, determined progress, Lady began to heal. First she learned to stand. Then, slowly, she began to walk. Now, more than a year later, she explores the play yard on her own and even runs in short bursts. Every step she takes is a testament to her strength, her will to survive, and the power of compassionate rescue.
Despite all she’s overcome, Lady still hasn’t found a home.
She is one of the longest-waiting dogs in the care of our August partner, Tattered Paws and Golden Hearts. This rescue works tirelessly to save dogs from Türkiye who would otherwise be forgotten. Many of these dogs have suffered injuries, neglect, or years of life on the streets. Some are born into shelters and never make it out. Tattered Paws steps in where others cannot, offering hope to the ones who need it most.
This August, in honor of International Dog Day, Rescue Revival is joining forces with Tattered Paws and Golden Hearts to help bring five of their longest-waiting dogs to the United States. Lady is one of them.
Why does this matter? Because dogs like Lady often don’t get adopted overseas. They are overlooked time and time again, stuck in limbo for years or even for life. But once they arrive in the U.S., everything changes. Even if they don’t find their forever family right away, they can begin that journey in a loving foster home. They can learn what it means to sleep in a warm bed, to go for walks, to feel safe. They can finally start to heal, not just physically but emotionally.
The cost to bring one dog like Lady from Türkiye to the U.S. is $5,417.55. That covers everything from medical care and transport to boarding and customs fees. To bring all five dogs over, our goal this month is to raise $27,087.75.
It is a big number. But so is the impact.
