Gold for Good: Tattered Paws and Golden Hearts
In honor of International Dog Day, Rescue Revival proudly kicked off our Gold for Good Campaign this August 2025 in partnership with Tattered Paws and Golden Hearts to give forgotten dogs a fresh start.
We are thrilled to share that we’ve already brought our first pup from Türkiye to the United States—but this is just the beginning. Our mission is to keep the momentum going by getting as many people as possible involved in helping more dogs make the journey home.
Who Is Tattered Paws and Golden Hearts?
Tattered Paws Golden Hearts Rescue began with a dream and a message from halfway around the world. Moved by the faces of dogs in desperate need across Türkiye, their founder took action. What started as one rescue quickly grew into a movement fueled by compassion, connection, and an unshakeable belief that every dog deserves a family.
Today, Tattered Paws operates globally, working tirelessly to save dogs from the streets, from overcrowded shelters, and from abuse and neglect. Their commitment is unwavering: find the dogs most overlooked, give them critical medical care and love, and help them find the forever families they deserve—no matter how long it takes.
Our Shared Mission
Together, Rescue Revival and Tattered Paws are committed to rescuing the at least 5 longest-waiting dogs currently in Tattered Paws' care. These are pups who’ve spent years waiting—too often overlooked simply because of age, breed, or medical needs.
Getting these dogs to the U.S. could change everything. Even without adopters lined up, foster homes here in the U.S. give them a real shot at love and stability. In contrast, staying in Türkiye means a significant risk of spending their entire lives without ever knowing the comfort of a home or the bond of a family.
What It Costs to Save a Life
Rescue isn’t free—and international rescue is especially complex. Here’s the breakdown of what it costs to bring just one dog from Türkiye to the U.S.:
Medical Expenses (basic + advanced, including spay/neuter, dental care, preventative treatment): $1,558.97
Transport & Import Prep (boarding, transport from Bursa to Istanbul, flight costs, crate, check-in, supplies): $1,924.04
Import Fees at JFK (ARK facility, customs broker, weekend boarding, crate disposal): $1,260.54
Domestic U.S. Transport (e.g., NY ➝ Seattle ➝ Arizona): $695.00
Total per dog: $5,417.55
Goal for 5 dogs: $27,087.75
